In Living Color: Virtual Talks

In Living Color: Virtual Talks

The Sarnoff Collection may be closed, but we are forging ahead with our lecture series. Join us online for a series of virtual talks this spring!

In conjunction with our temporary exhibit In Living Color (which you can visit virtually), we’re starting up our lecture series. This spring’s talks will all be online on Zoom. See below for more information.

To kick things off, join us for an opening day talk by exhibition curator Florencia Pierri on May 15, 1:30pm. She’ll introduce the new exhibit and give a talk about the color wars of the late 1940s and early 1950s as different color television systems competed for the approval not only of the Federal Communication Commission, but the American public as a whole. Click here to register.

Next, join us on Sunday, May 31 for a “RCA, Television, and the Moon,” a talk by Sam Russell. Russell is a former RCA and NASA project engineer who oversaw the design and operation of the remotely controlled TV camera for the last three Apollo lunar explorations. He’ll speak about his experience working on the Apollo missions and the history of the development of the camera and communication systems he helped build. Click here to register.
