From cylinders to chiptunes, music has come a long way in the century that has followed Thomas Edison’s first phonograph. Explore the history of music technology at In The Groove: A Century of Sound, an exhibit that traces the evolution of sound storage from wax cylinders to magnetic tape and follows the evolution of electronic music from theremins to computers. Join the Sarnoff curator for a special presentation about the history of sound technology at 5:00pm, then tour the exhibit, including our new interactive station.
