Making a Preservation-Quality Four-flap Enclosure

Preservation housing is intended to provide safe and efficient storage for collections items. A four-flap enclosure for historic documents, paper pamphlets, and photographs has a fundamental design that prioritizes a variety of potential conservation concerns, accommodates user access, and reduces unnecessary handling. How does one choose preservation-quality materials for long-term preservation and promote safe access and handling to promote sharing? Whether your collection is a group of artifacts, archival documents that must be stored together or just one unique item, learn how to design, construct, and label a drop-front box.
